Privacy Policy — Positive News Daily

App: Positive News Daily (Android package com.apnaprogrammer.ainewsaggregator) and the website positivenewsdaily.xyz Developer: ApnaProgrammer Contact: apnaprogrammer@gmail.com Last updated: 14 October 2026 (subscriptions and payments, ads for free accounts, AI summaries, daily reading limits)

Positive News Daily collects news stories from public news websites, sorts them by topic and tone, and shows a short summary of each with a link to the original. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Android app or the website, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Plans and what they mean for your data

Plan Price Articles you can open per day AI summaries Ads
Free ₹0 5 No (publisher’s excerpt and link) Yes
Basic ₹30 per month 30 Yes No
Unlimited ₹59 per month No limit Yes No

Free trial. Every new account gets the Unlimited plan free for 2 months, with no payment details. When the trial ends, the account moves to the Free plan automatically; nothing is charged.

Paid plans are not on sale yet; until they are, we don’t collect any payment information.

You can browse headlines, categories and trending stories without an account. Opening articles requires a free account, so that your daily limit and any subscription follow you between the website and the app. A subscription bought on the website or in the Android app works on both when you sign in with the same account.

2. Information we collect

If you create an account, we collect:

Data Why
Name and email address To create and identify your account, contact you about it, and send payment receipts
Date of birth (optional) To check that you are 18 or older, as our service is for adults. We don’t use it for anything else
Password To sign you in. Stored only as a one-way bcrypt hash; we never see or store your actual password
Topics you choose (interests) To personalise your home feed
Articles you open, and when To apply your plan’s daily limit and to show your reading history. You can clear your history at any time; we keep only the count needed for the current day’s limit
Bookmarks, likes/dislikes and comments To provide those features. Comments are visible to other users along with your name
News sources you hide, and feedback messages you send To provide those features and respond to you
Device model name (e.g. “Samsung SM-G991B”) To label your signed-in session
Reading streak and account preferences (country, language) To provide those features

Subscription and payment information. If you subscribe, we keep your plan, its status, start and renewal dates, the amount paid, and the order, subscription and payment reference numbers from the payment provider (see section 4). If a receipt or tax invoice needs it, we also keep the state you’re billed in. We never receive or store your card number, CVV, UPI PIN or bank login. Those go directly to the payment provider.

Server logs. Like most online services, our servers record technical information with each request: IP address, time, the page or API endpoint requested, and app/browser version. These logs are used only for security, debugging, fraud and abuse prevention, and are kept for a limited time.

Daily reminder notifications. If you turn on the daily reminder, the app asks for permission to show notifications and stores your chosen time on your device only. The reminder is scheduled locally by your phone; we do not use push-notification services or collect a device token.

Settings kept on your device only. Your chosen news languages, hidden news sources, theme (light/dark) and daily reminder time are stored on your phone. The selected languages and hidden sources are included in requests so we can return the right stories, but are not stored against your account.

Spam protection (Google reCAPTCHA). To stop automated fake sign-ups, creating an account uses Google reCAPTCHA: the website shows the “I’m not a robot” checkbox, and the Android app runs reCAPTCHA invisibly when you tap Create account. reCAPTCHA collects hardware and software information (such as device and app data) and sends it to Google for analysis. Its use is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. We only receive a risk score.

Advertising on free accounts. Free accounts see ads (see section 5). Paid plans are ad-free.

What we do NOT collect. The Android app does not access your precise location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos or files. It has no third-party analytics SDKs. Its third-party components are Google reCAPTCHA at sign-up, Google Play’s billing library when you subscribe, and the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) for ads on free accounts.

3. How we use your information

  • Provide, maintain and improve the service
  • Apply your plan’s daily article limit and give you access to what you paid for, on every device you sign in to
  • Process subscriptions, renewals, cancellations and refunds, and send receipts
  • Personalise your news feed based on the topics you choose
  • Send transactional emails, such as password resets and payment receipts
  • Respond to your feedback and support requests
  • Keep the service secure and prevent spam, fraud and abuse
  • Show ads to free accounts (through Google; see section 5)
  • Meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We don’t give advertisers your name, email or reading history.

4. Payments

When paid plans go on sale, payments will be handled by these providers, which process your payment details under their own privacy policies:

  • In the Android app — Google Play. Subscriptions bought in the app use Google Play’s billing system. Google processes the payment and shares with us only what we need to grant and manage your subscription (such as an order ID, the plan and its status). See the Google Payments Privacy Notice. Where Google offers it in India, the app may also let you pay with Razorpay instead (below).
  • On the website — Razorpay. Payments on positivenewsdaily.xyz are processed by Razorpay Software Private Limited, which supports UPI (including UPI AutoPay for renewals), cards, net banking and wallets. See the Razorpay Privacy Policy.

Subscriptions renew automatically each month until you cancel. Cancel a Google Play subscription in the Play Store app (Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions); cancel a website subscription from your account page. After you cancel, your plan stays active until the end of the period you’ve paid for.

5. Ads

Free accounts may see ads: a banner in the app and on the website, and a full-screen ad you can skip that appears on every third article you open (at most once every two minutes). Accounts on the free trial or a paid plan see no ads. Ads are served by Google: Google AdMob in the Android app and Google AdSense on the website. Paid plans see no ads.

To show and measure ads, and to prevent ad fraud, Google and its partners may collect:

  • In the app: your device’s advertising ID, IP address, approximate location derived from it, device and app information, and how you interact with ads.
  • On the website: the same kind of information through cookies and similar technologies.

Google may use this to show personalised ads, where the law and your choices allow. We don’t share your name, email or reading history with Google for ads. To control ads:

  • Android: Settings → Google → Ads (or Privacy → Ads) to reset or delete your advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads.
  • Web and app: My Ad Center to turn off personalised ads.
  • Where required (for example, for visitors from the European Economic Area or the UK), we ask for your consent before personalised ads are shown, and you can change your choice later.

See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

6. Sharing

We share personal information only:

  • With the payment providers in section 4, to process your payments
  • With Google, for ads on free accounts, as described in section 5
  • With service providers that host and operate our servers and send our emails, under obligations to protect it
  • When required by law, including tax authorities, or to protect the rights, property or safety of our users or the public

Your name is shown next to any comment you post.

7. Third-party content and AI

Articles come from other news websites. We show a short summary and always link to the original; images are loaded directly from those publishers’ servers, and the “Read full story” button opens the publisher’s website. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which we do not control. Some publishers ask for their own subscription to read the full story; we mark those articles, and their subscriptions are separate from ours.

We use an AI service (DeepSeek) to decide each story’s topic and tone (positive, neutral or negative) and to write summaries for paid plans. We send it only the public article text, headline and excerpt — never any information about you. Summaries are labelled “AI summary”; they can contain mistakes, so the original article is always linked.

8. Security

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. All traffic between the app, the website and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS. The app signs you in with a random access token, and our servers store only a SHA-256 fingerprint of that token, not the token itself. Signing out revokes the token. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

9. Data retention and deletion

We keep your account data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the app (Profile → Delete account) or by emailing apnaprogrammer@gmail.com. This permanently removes your account, bookmarks, reactions, comments, interests, reading history and feedback.

  • Payment records (amounts, dates, plan and reference numbers) are kept for as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires, even after you delete your account.
  • Deleting your account cancels a website subscription. A Google Play subscription is billed by Google, so also cancel it in the Play Store; otherwise Google may keep renewing it.
  • Server logs are deleted on a rolling basis.

10. Your rights

You may have the right to access, correct, update or delete your personal data, withdraw consent, and nominate someone to exercise these rights for you. This includes your rights under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and similar laws where you live. To use any of these rights, or to raise a grievance about how we handle your data, email apnaprogrammer@gmail.com. We aim to reply within 30 days. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

11. Children

You must be 18 or older to create an account or subscribe. We ask for your date of birth at sign-up to check this (it’s optional), and sign-ups from people under 18 are refused. The service is not directed at children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above, and for significant changes we will notify you in the app or by email.
